Beste schuttersvrienden
Een traditie is mooi en moet in Ere gehouden worden. Ook bij schutterij Ons Genoegen is traditie, en in mijn geval familie traditie, iets om mee door te gaan. Mijn Opa Theo Kersten (Rötje) heeft, door 3X achter elkaar koning te worden, zich tot keizer geschoten. Al jaren had ik het geprobeerd maar het geluk zat mij niet mee. Om dan toch een eer gevoel te krijgen heb ik mij op het vaandel dragen gestort. Mijn zus Chantal Koks werd 2X koning en mijn zwager mocht ook een keer het zilver dragen door de mus eraf te knallen. In de vele jaren van de vereniging zijn ook mijn ooms Tönne Kersten, Lou van de Bisen en mijn tante Lore te kaat koning geweest. En ome Theo Kersten (Bimbo) is zelfs 4X koning geweest waarvan bijna keizer. Zo ook heeft mijn vader Jos Schmitz de vogel precies 50 jaar geleden eraf geschoten. Het lijkt erop dat het geluk mij daarom dit jaar heeft mee gezeten. Door telkens een nieuwe loting is de kans dat je op het goede moment onder de boom staat klein, maar je moet dan ook de vogel natuurlijk goed raken. Ik ben daarom blij en zeer vereerd dat ik de familie traditie mag voort zetten door het schutters zilver dit jaar te dragen en super trots met mijn vrouw Minca aan mijn zijde. We gaan er een geweldig jaar van maken en ik hoop dat mijn neefje Kris deze traditie verder brengt.
